I went to them with a question and they got back to me 3 freaking days later. The download speeds are inconsistent (upload speeds are generally good) which makes streaming and watching live sports a pain in the butt. You SHOULD be able to get access to Netflix with AirVPN at the time of writing but you just never know when this will change. I’ve also heard it’s horrendously slow in China. My download speed averages just 30mbps but occasionally it drops to 22mbps. I’m aware that folk living in Europe say they’re able to record good speeds but I live in America and my speeds are nothing to write home about. It’s pretty inconsistent (and shoddy) on this front as well. I ran several tests and while it didn’t always leak, the inconsistency is worrying. Most VPN companies say they don’t log but the reality is that none of us know for sure how true this is.ĪirVPN use industry standard OpenVPN protocol, while AirVPN further back things up with advanced AES encryption which is again industry standard. The company say they don’t log but you can take that with a pinch of salt. If you decide to lock yourself into a yearly subscription you will pay just $4.42. You can use it for 3 days and it will cost you $2.26 while a months worth costs $7.93. Yes, I put myself through the living hell of streaming a live sporting event with AirVPN just for you lot lol.ĪirVPN is dirt cheap - which is a telling sign that its service isn’t the best. To make sure no one else falls foul of this VPN and to help you guys out, I’m gonna write up a quick AirVPN review for you all. I’ve been using VPNs for a number of years now - some have been really great, others have been absolute toilet. However, after this, I would never go back or support their company in any way.Ok I’ll level with you - I’m sick to death of crap VPNs getting promoted on Reddit! People use Reddit to help them get information about things and they rely on us to give them good advice but the amount of people I’ve seen recommending god awful VPNs on here is unreal! I can only imagine the amount of people who have signed up to AirVPN after reading a glowing ass review. Prior to this debacle, I would have seriously considered going back to AirVPN should the IMDb issue be resolved, especially since they're one of the few that I can access Netflix and Hulu through. I find resorting to that to be a terrible business practice, especially for a company that claims to support a free and open internet. Now when I try to log into AirVPN, it says that I am not authorized to view anything. After a third post regarding the issue, they again locked the thread however, they also decided to delete my posts, as well and locking my account. They never responded to any request for that information and simply locked the threads. At least one other user asked for further details as well. Not to mention, I have no issues resolving their DNS outside of AirVPN, including via my current VPN (Mullvad).ĭue to the conflicting information, I responded to their posts on a couple of different threads asking for clarification and further explanation. There is a not a single recent claim of IMDb DNS issues on the web, except for AirVPN. However, it seems that the issue is solely limited to AirVPN. There were quite a few posts to their forums about it, and they claimed that the the IMDb parent DNS servers were configured improperly. However, a few months ago, they started having an issue where IMDb DNS would not properly resolve. There were a few issues here and there, but they seemed to make an effort to fix issues, or at least adequately explain what was going on. I've had been with AirVPN for years, and overall the experience was good.
